The client brief was to build a sympathetic extension on the rear of this bungalow in the heritage-listed suburb of Colonel Light Gardens. To ensure the strict guidelines of The City of Mitcham Council were met, particular attention was paid to traditional character finishes such as the rendered pebble-dash dado. Meticulous detailed finishes to the brickwork and the use of timber frame windows maintain the original character of this home. A light and airy feel to the kitchen and open living area were created without compromising storage and functional seating space. The polished timber floors add warmth and modernity whilst unifying the character timberwork thorughout the house. The result is a harmonious blend of character features and modern living.
